£1,000,000 Bingo Jackpot Family Feud

A 71 year old lady from Glasgow, Jean McCullagh, caused a massive family feud after she won a £1m bingo jackpot in 2007. Jean, her sister Margaret and two sisters in law Rose and Jessie, all huge bingo fans, made an agreement with each other that should one of them win the bingo jackpot they would split the winnings four ways. Following the win and as the champagne was popping Jean’s own greed intervened and she reneged on her sisterly promise. This led her utterly shell-shocked sister and sisters in law to sue her taking Jean to court to get back what was rightfully theirs.
With £250,000 each at stake the sisters legal dispute carried on for two years during which time £200k was allegedly emptied from the bingo jackpot winnings. Jean was forced to settle out of court and the winnings were split evening four ways between the sisters.
The final chapter of this story resulted in Jean’s relationships with her family being completely destroyed and she is now not considered part of the family. Ironically it was Jean’s sister who introduced her to bingo and took her along to her first game.

Trek to Everest for World’s Highest Game of Bingo
Next week a group of 24 die hard bingo players will take part in a bingo pilgrimage to Everest’s Base Camp, 17,500 feet above sea level, in an attempt to topple the record for the World’s Highest Game of Bingo.
The Great Britain based Gala Coral employees are tackling this challenge to raise money for their nominated charity, Sue Ryder Care. The team have been preparing for this momentous feat by taking part in intensive endurance training sessions as well as playing bingo atop landmarks in their local area. Their goal is to scale the world’s highest mountain, set a new world record for playing bingo at altitude and raise £100,000.
The trek to Mt Everest is just one of several fundraising initiatives by the Gala Coral Group with the aim of raising £1 million by the end of the year for Sue Ryder Care, which provides care to people living with conditions including cancer, multiple sclerosis, stroke and Huntington’s Disease. Staff are well on their way to reaching their goal as £750,000 has been raised already.
The trek to play the World’s Highest Game of Bingo will commence at Lukla on Monday October 19th and is due to finish at Everest Base Camp on Saturday October 24.
